Stud Farms

A mare and foal in a paddock, the mare wearing an embroidered paddock sheet

A stud sells to people who have flown in to look at a handful of horses. Everything they see on the way to the covering shed is part of the pitch — including what your staff are wearing and what is on the rug.

What we make for studs

Staff kit built for foaling and covering season: quilted gilets, insulated jackets, midlayers and waterproofs that survive being worn at four in the morning for three months. Paddock sheets, rugs and headcollar plates carrying the stud's crest. Boxed pieces for visiting clients and for sales week.

We work in Suffolk, minutes from the Heath, so a sample can be with you the next day rather than the next week.

What it costs

We quote each stud rather than publishing a price list. For a sense of scale, a full staff kit-out with horse kit and client gifting typically runs from £6,000 across a season, and smaller operations start well below that.

The one fixed price is the Mark, your one-off commission, at £150 to £350.

Lead times and minimums

No minimum order.

Ten working days for your Mark. Fifteen to twenty working days for a full kit-out. Sales weeks and December are the two pinch points in our year as much as yours — anything needed for Tattersalls October should be commissioned by August.

Your crest, drawn properly

Stud crests are usually the hardest marks to embroider well. Fine lines, heraldic detail and close colour pairs all fall apart at small sizes if the file is run through software and sent straight to the machine, which is what most suppliers do.

We redraw it for thread, proof it at every size from a cap front to a paddock sheet, and stitch a physical sample on your fabric before anything goes into production. See the Mark.
