Horse Kit

A racehorse led round the parade ring in an embroidered navy saddlecloth

This is the kit that gets photographed. A saddlecloth in the parade ring does more for a yard's name in an afternoon than anything else you will buy all year, and a paddock sheet in front of a visiting client does the same job standing still.

Below are the kinds of pieces we make. Everything is built to your colours or your crest, so treat these as the shape of the range rather than a list to order from.

Example pieces

Saddlecloths

Raceday and schooling, in your registered colours or your stud's crest. The most visible embroidery you will ever commission, and the one where the drawing matters most — colours are defined for silks, not for thread, and hoops, chevrons and halved designs all need redrawing before they read correctly at distance.

Paddock sheets and rugs

For the walk round, the sales ring and the yard itself. Wool or technical, trimmed in your colours, with the crest on the rear corner where a camera finds it.

Fly veils and ear bonnets

Small, cheap, endlessly lost, and reordered constantly. Worth having on a yard account so they are a login rather than an email.

Headcollar plates and stable kit

Engraved plates, stable guards and name boards. Not embroidery, but part of how a yard reads to anyone walking through it, and we would rather supply it properly than have you chase it separately.

What it costs

Quoted per order, because it depends on the piece, the fabric and how complex your colours are. For scale, a set of raceday saddlecloths and a couple of paddock sheets usually sits in the £400 to £1,200 range excluding VAT. Larger stud orders with rugs and sales kit run well beyond that.

The one fixed price is the Mark, your one-off commission, at £150 to £350. Once your colours are drawn, every piece after uses the same file at no further charge.

A note on colours

Registered racing colours are the hardest thing in this trade to get right in thread, and almost nobody does. A design that reads cleanly on silk can turn to mud on a saddlecloth if the stitch direction is wrong or two tones sit too close together.

We will tell you before you order if your colours need adjusting to work, and what we would change. How we draw a mark.
