How We Work

A string of racehorses walking the gallops at first light

Everything you would otherwise have to ask us.

Minimum order

There isn't one. We will embroider a single gilet. The quality is the same at one as at a hundred, and so is the care.

Lead times

  • The Mark: ten working days from receiving your artwork
  • Kit: fifteen to twenty working days from artwork approval
  • Reorders: ten working days, because your mark is already drawn

Two periods run longer: Tattersalls sales weeks, and December. If you need kit for either, commission it two months ahead.

Artwork

Send whatever you have. A vector file is ideal, but a photograph of an existing rug, a letterhead, or a description of your registered colours is enough to start. Part of what you pay for in the Mark is us turning what you have into something that works in thread.

If your artwork will not embroider well at the size you want, we will say so before you spend anything, and tell you what would.

Embroidery, not print

We only embroider. Print is cheaper and faster and it will not last a winter in a yard. If print is genuinely the right answer for what you are asking for, we will tell you and point you elsewhere.

Our embroidery is machine work on industrial machines. The craft is in the drawing, the colour matching and the proofing, not in anyone sitting with a needle, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Thread and garments

We stitch in Madeira thread. Garments are bought to order from a short, deliberate range chosen for how they wear in a working yard. We do not carry stock, which is why the range is narrow and why nothing is ever discounted to clear.

Washing embroidered kit

Wash at thirty, inside out, no bleach, no tumble dryer on high. Embroidery outlasts the garment if you treat it reasonably.

Yard accounts

Regular customers get an account with their own pricing and payment terms, so ordering is a login rather than an email. Ask us to set one up once you have placed a first order.

Payment

The Mark is paid up front. Kit is invoiced on dispatch, or on agreed terms for account customers.
